History

Our MD Phill’s grandfather, William Rose, originally set up a Fastener business in Birmingham in 1918 with his Commanding Officer at the end of WW1.

In 1938 Williams’ son; Bernard Rose, joined the business as a draughtsman, moving onto the shop floor under the tutelage of his father soon after. Bernard Rose became instrumental in developing unique ways of producing high-quality fasteners for the British Army and Air Force, improving manufacturing techniques and ensuring the company became a key supplier to the war effort. He set up his own business in the early 1950s, in the front room of a house in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, manufacturing conduit screws.

Following their success, the company expanded and moved into much larger premises in the centre of Birmingham. At this point, their main customers were BSA, BSR, Stanley Tools and Dyson Products. In 1980, Bernard’s son, Phill Rose, joined the company. He learned the trade from the ground up as his father did, encompassing all aspects of fastener manufacturing – from goods inwards to despatch, including all machine operations. Phill was instrumental in modernising the methods of manufacture, expanding the range of fasteners and the material specs offered. In 1994, Phill purchased new premises in Aston, Birmingham, where FFM are based today.

We remain a family-run British business, with the experience, skills and machinery to support businesses requiring a quality product. As a leading supplier of fasteners and associated products, our business ethos is to achieve continued growth by creating long-term relationships with our customers.
